When they heard the news it nearly broke the dwarf's heart. Xephos? How could he... Honeydew had been upset for days, rarely listening in training. When they got the news from Canterlot it was worse. Princess Luna had turned to Nightmare Moon and Princess Celestia was trapped in the sun.
That was months ago, and the battle field on Canterlot mountain was now. The moon bathed the land in all its silver glory. A large field, were two parties would clash. Ponies would die tonight, he'd wish it could be avoided.
Months of training, months of sleepless nights and months of mastering magic. It was time for them to defeat Israphel. Time for him to fight Xephos. It would be easy, stun Xephos and run to the deepest part. He had to get the crystal in that would disable Israphel's sand from taking over the world.
They were joined by ponies, griffons and tamed beasts from the Everfree Forest. KP looked at Honeydew with worried eyes and blinked.
"You do not need to do this, hero." He whispered softly, placing a gentle hoof on his shoulder.
Honeydew shook his shoulder off and sighed.
"No KP, I am one of the heroes of legend. Me and Xeph' had to do this, now I do it alone." He replied sternly."I'll be fine."
He could hear them, hooves and bones rattling as the mobs raced towards them.
"ATTACK!" Honeydew screeched. Hooves meeting hooves quickly.
The dwarf tackled a zombie to the floor, kicking a skeleton dead then slamming his hoof through the zombie's head.
He yelped when a creeper exploded behind him and send him flying. He collapsed in front of Xephos who laughed.
"Hello, friend." He hissed, sneering out the once happy word. He slammed his hoof on his back and laughed as the dwarf cried out in pain.
"Xeph, please.." Honeydew whined, watching him with scared eyes. He got to his hooves and looked at him.
Xephos laughed moving away. He stalked around him like a cat ready to pounce, eyeing up his 'prey'.
"What are you gonna do?" He smirked then galloped at him.
Honeydew whined, shutting his eyes then slamming his back hooves into Xephos' chin. The other yelped in pain and collapsed on the floor. He glared at Honeydew, coughing.
"What are you g-gonna do?" He hissed between coughs."Finish it?!"
Honeydew hugged Xephos instead, pulling him into a strong yet warm embrace.
"Please Xeph'.." He begged."Do you remember? Me and you, against the world. Not against each other, we'd always fight but we'd make up. Please come back, I don't want to be away from you anymore.."
Xephos blinked, eyes shifting to his natural blue shade.
"Friend.." He whispered softly, returning the hug."I'm sorry." He noticed the crystal in Honeydew's back and pulled away."Get the canterlot castle, at throne room is were the crystal is to be held. No one's there now, run."
Honeydew grinned and nodded, galloping off. Xephos turned to face Israphel and hissed.
"You lied to me." He snarled, wings uncurling.
"I might have twisted the truth..." He cooed casually, waving a wing."Now, be a dear and go kill your friend."
Xephos shook his head.
"I'll kill you instead!" He roared and leapt at the alicorn, shoving him to the ground.
"I gave you power and this is how you repay me?!" Israphel roared, punching his nose and breaking it. Xephos hissed as blood began to drip."I made you strong, stronger than you were with your friends.."
Xephos shook his head and gripped Israphel's horn between his teeth. He broke it off, gripping it between his teeth. He smirked at Israphel's startled look.
"It ends now." He hissed, slamming the horn into Israphel's chest in a killing blow.
Israphel bled out while everyone fled, the creepers began to explode rapidly as if it was a routine. Xephos didn't notice until they were far enough away.
He didn't notice that they were exploding by Canterlot Castle.
He did notice when the castle collapsed.
"Honeydew!" He yelped, galloping towards the castle as fast as he could."HONEYDEW!"
He and the other ponies began to push debris out of the way. They looked about, looking for any remain of the dwarf pony. Xephos brushed some bits of glass and came across a helmet. He lifted it, staring at the horns that came from the side and curled upwards. He whimpered as he imagined placing the helmet on the head of who it belonged too.
"HONEYDEW!" He wailed, clutching the helmet to his chest as he screeched to the morning sun. The sun bathing the land in ruby. His heart stung more than his nose as the tears mixed with blood.
It was the end.
But why did he have to lose his friend?
I had to basically summarize everything at the end, it probably doesn't make a lot of sense. Nor is it written good in my own opinion, but its done at least.
Does this need a warning? I dunno.
