Hurt By Death

Waterpath walked back to the camp with his head down.He walked into the camp, he heard the sound of some warriors greeting him but he ignored them.

"Waterpath whats wrong?" Came a concerned voice.He looked up seeing Adderstrike looking at him, tears started to form in his eyes.

"Bumbleflights dead!" He wailed.

Everyone gasped looking at the tom.

"A viper killed her..A viper...shes dead shes..dead...." He stammered shaking."Shes dead Starclan took her..Starclan..took..her..."

His two kits walked over as he ordered two cats to go get her body.

"Dad his mum really gone?" Nightpaw asked her eyes wide.

"Is she going to come home?" Longpaw asked.

Waterpath just looked at them."No shes not she watches us from Starclan..." He replied his voice filled with saddness.

Soon the two warriors brought her body back.Waterpath pushed his nose into her fur and lay there his kits on either side of him, mourning her loss.

Waterpath stayed vigil with Adderstrike, when morning arrived Waterpath gave out patrols.

No cat expected this to happen but Waterpath only talked to give out patrols.He stopped eating and sleeping.

A few days after Bumbleflights death Waterpath looked up as his old apprentice, Frostgaze ran into the camp.

"LONGPAW AND ADDERSTRIKE ARE DEAD!" He wailed.

"WHAT?! What happened!?" He demanded looking at Frostgaze.

"I was out hunting with them an..and a rogue just came out of no where attacked Longpaw then killed him and he killed Adderstrike" He meowed.

Waterpath raced out of the camp with a few other cats, he found their bodies and picked his sons body up.

He walked into the camp then dropped his body and fell down crying into his fur.

Nightpaw joined him crying into her brothers body.

He then mourned Adderstrike.

At morning like usual he gave out the morning patrols then ran out of the camp.He reached the river and stared down at his reflection.

He saw himself his white fur was messy and there was dark circles under his eyes, he looked down at his body his eyes widned when he realised he could see his ribcage.

He glared up at the sky."Why Starclan?! He demanded."Why! You took everyone I cared about away from me! EVERYTHING! My kit,my mate, the cat who was like a father to me, my father then my best friend!"

He fell down sobbing into his paws "Its all gone.." He whispered."All of it..."

"Waterpath.." Came a familar voice.

He looked up his mother was standing there.

"Mum!" He cried then ran over to her.

Her reaction wasnt what he expected she slapped his cheek leaving a large claw mark there.

"Your dead to be I hat eyou Waterpath" She spat.

"What..?" He whispered.

"I HATE YOU YOUR THE WORST SON EVER!" She yowled in his face."You deserve to die! Its all your fault your father died! I want someone I can be proud of not YOU!"

She slashed at his nose he whimpered then fell down.

She left leaving him crying.

Soon some warriors took him to the camp.

"Do you need some herbs?" Larksong asked worriedly.

"No...Herbs dont soothe pain" He growled.

"Hes not eatting"

"He wouldnt talk at all"

"Well he did loose everything..."

Waterpath hissed at nearly every cat that approached him.He gave out the patrols then he would lie at the side of the camp not moving at all.

"Waterpath" Came Larksongs voice.

"Leave me alone..." He hissed.

"Waterpath you need rest" She meowed.

"No I dont.."

"Yes you do"

"No I dont!"

"You do Bumbleflight would want you to rest and eat" She meowed.

"....Fine.......Ill eat a mouse then go and sleep" He growled then went and got a mouse from the fresh kill pile.

He ate it then went to sleep.

He didnt sleep for long but his dreams mocked him of all he lost.

He lay awake while his clanmates slept.

"Waterpath.." A sweet voice came in the wind."Go to sleep"

He wanted to agrue but he couldnt a sweet smell fell over him before he drifted off.

"Hello Waterpath" Was the voice that he woke to in his dream.

He looked up, Bumbleflight was smiling down at him with Adderstrike,Rosefur,Longpaw and Smokewhisper there aswell.

He stood up at he smiled for the first time in awhile and touched noses with them all.

"We are always there for you but you must not die yet eat and sleep" Rosefur smiled.

"You gotta become leader dad!" Longpaw meowed.

"The regin of Waterstar" The five starclan cats meowed then laughed.

Bumbleflight purred touching noses with him."I am so sorry I ignored the sign" She whispered.

"I miss you" He meowed then looked at them all."I miss all of you.."

"Now we most leave you sorry buddy" Adderstrike smiled before they all disappeared.

Waterpath opened his eyes smiling, they where still there.

And they still cared about him.
